The genesis of aeronautical engineering goes back to the first human attempts to fly between the late nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century, when engineering was restricted to experiments and ideas drawn from other engineering.

Scientists came up with a set of important ideas that were a key to entering and expanding the world of aeronautical engineering, and attempts began to design a plane that would enable humans to fly in the air easily, until the Wright brothers were able to make the first aircraft with a fan and engine in 1903, after which there was a great development in this The field during World War I was reflected in the design of the military aircraft that participated in the war, and over the years, progress in the field of aviation continued until we knew the aircraft used today, in addition to launching satellites into outer space.

Therefore, it was necessary to place a scientific specialization in universities called Aeronautical Engineering, which studies aviation inside and outside the atmosphere, and is concerned with graduating experienced engineers, who were called aeronautical engineers.

Aeronautical Engineering major:

The duration of study at the College of Aeronautical Engineering is 4 years, during which the student learns in the first year subjects such as mathematics, physics and chemistry, in addition to an introduction to aeronautics, then in the following year he begins to study the influential sciences related to aviation such as thermodynamics, dynamics and resistance, and then begins to specialize in one of the branches of engineering, which is concerned with five Main discussions, namely:

1-Aerodynamics, or what is called aerodynamicsThe science concerned with the external design of the plane, such as: the tail and wing, so that the plane can generate the necessary force to overcome the force of gravity.

2- The science of stability and control: It is the science that deals with how the plane is controlled and stabilized in the air.

3- Science of Payment Systems: It is the science that studies aircraft engines. These engines generate the necessary force to lift the plane off the ground.

4- Science of constructions and structures: It is the science concerned with manufacturing aircraft structures, and materials used in the manufacture of aircraft structures.

5- Science of avionics: The science concerned with avionics, autopilots, navigation, radar and communication systems.

Why should you choose to study aeronautical engineering:

Working in aeronautical engineering requires extreme caution and great care to reduce the accidents of forced or forced landings. Therefore, aircraft safety is one of the main goals of aviation engineering, and is always looking for new, more modern designs to help reduce fuel consumption and reduce air pollution from aircraft engine exhaust. Therefore, aerospace engineers have basic tasks:

1- Finding the necessary supplies needed to produce modern designs from highly efficient aircraft.

2- Approving the cost of production and developing a production time plan in accordance with internationally recognized specifications.

3- Always communicate with the latest scientific and theoretical research in the field of aviation.

4- Producing and selecting designs before starting to implement them.

5- Development of aircraft parts, operating systems and their performance.

6- The ability to install aircraft parts and parts.

7- Placing products, making the necessary adjustments and re-selecting them.

8- Writing the necessary indicative and preventive reports.

9- Providing technical advice.

10- Data and data analysis to avoid errors.

11- Characterization of aircraft payloads.

As for space engineering that is concerned with satellites, the aeronautical engineer has the following responsibility:

1- Determining the path of the satellite and changing its speed, and taking into account all the factors affecting the moon such as the sun, moon and other stars.

2- Determining the satellite propulsion engines, which provide a great momentum to bring the moon to the specified path, and carry out space flights as long as possible.

3- Controlling the launch of the satellite or the shuttle until it reaches the speed and path specified for it, and securing all that is necessary for it to carry out its work without problems.

Available fields of work after studying Aeronautical Engineering

After studying at the university about everything related to aviation, the first thing that comes to mind is that the workplace of the flight engineer is the airports, and in it he takes care of the plane’s matters and constantly examines them before every flight and maintains what is necessary so that the plane becomes completely ready to make the trip assigned to it.

An aviation engineer can also work in:

1- Aircraft design and manufacture, in developed countries that own aircraft manufacturing plants.

2- Design and manufacture of aircraft engines, where the engineer works in the maintenance of thermal machines and turbines of various types.

3- Piloting airplanes, as some countries have recently stipulated that the captain of the plane be an aviation engineer.

4- Aircraft testing: where the flight engineer performs test flights in which he makes sure of the aircraft’s performance and efficiency.

4- Work in power generation stations, i.e. stations that generate energy.

5- Working in maintenance of helicopters and missile factories, and affiliation with space agencies in developed countries.

Fields of postgraduate studies

An aeronautical engineering graduate can pursue his studies and obtain a master's degree in his specialization, which deals with the following topics:

1- Aviation engineering.

2- Reform and management techniques.

3- Aviation and space science techniques.

4- Aviation Administration.

The duration of the master's study is two years, during which the student gets the following experiences:

After completing the Masters, the student can apply for the PhD in Aviation, which lasts for 3 years.
